“…always take your wallet on stage…”
“…the absolute brilliance of the musicians and the variety of styles and themes within the music makes for an entertaining hour…”
I am a singer-songwriter from Dublin, who also writes musicals, drinks good whiskey and plays football.
Can you tell us a little bit about your show, what can we expect?
Cracking good songs in the style of Bowie, Brecht and Brel, played by a brilliant band of international groovers.
Why did you decide to perform your show at the Brighton Fringe?
I was playing at Edinburgh last year and was shortlisted for the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence and was subsequently invited to play at the Dukebox.
What makes your show different?
I think it would be the material itself. The songs are unusual in style and content and I think anyone who appreciates good lyrics and a good melody will appreciate the set. Vintage but contemporary is my approach.
Who would enjoy seeing your show?
Humanity in general and perhaps also those 12 foot tall alien lizards from the fourth dimension that David Icke goes on about.
What has been the best advice you have been given?
Always take your wallet on stage.
What show, apart from yours, would you recommend at the Brighton Fringe and why?
Camille O’Sullivan always delivers.
What do you think audiences will enjoy the most about your show?
The quality of the songs, the absolute brilliance of the musicians and the variety of styles and themes within the music makes for an entertaining hour I believe.
Involuntary Noises: The Songs of Jody Trehy is appearing at Sweet Dukebox, 31 May and 1-5 June 21:10.
